THE WATCH
This vintage, all original Universal Geneve Polerouter Date features a stunning silver dial and traditional squared off lugs, unlike it's more well known cousin with the twisted lyre lug design. Unlike the dauphine hands on many polerouters, this example has stick hands with a small stepped crown. The case is in fantastic condition for it's age and the silver dial shows no major blemishes or heavy aging. The dial in some lights has a creamy golden color with some minor blemishes when looked up close. The dial contains a horizontal line dissecting the dial in half and features a beautiful trapezoidal date window with a matching trapezoid shaped cyclops on the crystal. It is becoming harder to find these models with their original trapezoidal cyclops acrylic crystal which helps to really showcase the beautiful UG font used for their dates. The movement is micro rotor UG caliber 69 which has been recently serviced and keeping accurate time. The watch comes on a blue saffiano leather strap from Those Watch Guys.

THOUGHTS
What I like so much about this Polerouter model is it's differences compared to the all too common black dial variant with twisted lugs. I think the silver dial variant is very understated and brings a different sense of elegance and feel to the watch. With the all silver dial, chapter ring, and stainless steel case, the watch presents a monochromatic look which in my opinion allows it to be much more versatile as a daily vintage driver especially with its 35mm case design which wears larger on the wrist then it's dimensions. The monochromatic silver can easily dress up more than it's more tool oriented black dial cousin, but also has the ability to dress down due to it's more robust squared case design and stick hands. One of my favorite features of the watch however, has got to be it's magnified trapezoid date window. There's something about the date wheel font that UG uses that really gives it a special vintage vibe. The UG micro rotor caliber 69 is a beautiful workhorse and such a unique movement to a vintage watch. In my opinion, the UG Polerouter is one of the most balanced and beautiful watches ever created. If your looking for a vintage daily driver that has a classic design, historical relevance, and offers incredible value, you can't beat this vintage UG Polerouter date.
