1990's Hamilton Ardmore First Registered Edition 6080

THE WATCH

The First Registered Edition Hamilton Ardmore reference 6080 Roman dial watch is a beautiful classic expression of mid century elegance.  This limited first registered edition Hamilton is from the 1990's giving it neo vintage cartier vibes.  It features a bold rectangular case in stainless steel with gold tone cap, paired with a striking white roman numeral dial.  The elongated shape and traditional design cues gives it a classic dress watch charm that is very reminiscent of the 40's and 50's, while offering a versatile presence on the wrist.  Produced in a limited numbered run, this example is marked NO. 0072 on the stainless steel casebHaack.  The dial features oversized black roman numerals set against a crisp white backdrop with a small seconds subdial positioned at six o clock.  The white dial looks very similar to enamel, and the numerals are printed.  Upon close inspection the dial features some small debris that must have gotten behind the mineral crystal, but otherwise in great condition for it's age.  The absence of a date window keeps the layout clean and balanced.  The case looks to be unpolished and the watch contains original hands, crown, crystal, and dial.  The crown shows some wear as the gold-tone has mostly rubbed off, but none the less functionable and tucked neatly into the case.  The mineral crystal has a few light surface scratches, but in otherwise good condition.  The movement is a Hamilton eta swiss quartz which helps keep the case profile quite thin.  The case has a nice gently curvature that helps the watch sit on the wrist perfectly.  The watch is finished with a new black leather strap and gold toned buckle by Hadley Roma.

THOUGHTS

This special limited registered edition Hamilton Ardmore 6080 screams Cartier vibes.  The case shape is similar to a Tank Americaine and the beautiful white dial with roman numeral printing is classic dress watch.  I highly considered keeping this one for my personal collection as it's so unique.  The watch looks so elegant and clean on the wrist with it's slim profile and dressy proportions.  What's nice is it wears slightly larger that your typical tank due to the lug to lug.  The beautiful white dial and roman numerals gives this piece tones of art deco character and old world charm.  I love the bold numerals and gently curvature in the rectangular case.  The watch looks way more expensive than it is and can be worn with a Tuxedo or as an everyday quiet luxury piece.  I never realized Hamilton had released this limited model and a quick search came up with almost none on the market, making this piece pretty special. The Hamilton 6080 is more commonly seen with a manual wind movement and Arabic numerals.  This roman numeral quartz variant is quite rare.  If you've been in the market for a Cartier tank or a similar design, but want significant more value at a third of the price, this one would be a great addition to your watch collection!
