2007 Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph CV2113

THE WATCH

Up for sale is a beautiful and discontinued 2007 Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph reference CV2113.  Produced for only four years (2004-2008), this model pays homage to the legendary 1964 Carrera 2447, updated with a slightly larger 39mm case and a sapphire crystal for modern durability. The stainless steel case is in excellent condition for it's age, showing only light wear from use. The sharp Heuer style lugs suggest the case remains unpolished. The crown and pushers are in good condition and function as they should. The black dial features three contrasting silver sub-registers to track running seconds, minutes, and hours.  A discrete matching date window sits at four o'clock. The applied silver hour markers adds a refined touch and is filled with superluminova as well as in the hands. Overall the dial and stainless steel case, and screw down case back are in outstanding condition.  Powering the watch is a Tag Heuer caliber 17 automatic 37 jewel chronograph movement, based on the reliable ETA 2894-2. The chronograph operates smoothly, and the movement is keeping time well. The original leather strap shows signs of heavy wear, but it still retains the Tag Heuer signed deployment clasp and can easily be swapped for a fresh leather strap of your choice. The watch is also being offered as a complete set with box and papers and comes from the original owner, an increasingly rare find!  This Carrera strikes the perfect balance of sporty and dressy, making it versatile enough for everyday wear or more refined occassions.

THOUGHTS

This mid-2000's Carrera Re-issue has been gaining traction again as collectors are revisiting Tag Heuer's heritage designs from the past.  With modern Tag Heuer having a resurgence in popularity, it's these early Tag Heuer's that remain hidden gems. Drawing inspiration from the iconic 1964 Carrera 2447, it delivers all the vintage charm with the advantages of modern construction and case proportions. Personally, I find this reference especially appealing for it's striking panda style contrast of silver on black sub dials, which give the watch a distinctly racing inspired look that pays tribute to Heuer's motorsport legacy. The classic Heuer lugs and case design is timeless, versatile, and unmistakably Carrera. Value wise, these remain one of the best buys in my opinion for a affordable automatic chronograph from a iconic brand. If you were looking for a modern Carrera from Tag today you would be looking at over double the price.  This specific example is as good as it gets coming as a complete set from the original owner, all the way down to the heavily worn leather strap that we decided to keep on the watch.  If you've been searching for a chronograph with vintage soul and modern dependability, you can't beat this Carrera reissue.
