THE WATCH
Founded by designer Jonathan Ferrer, Brew Watch Co. has carved out a unique, celebrated niche in independent watchmaking by celebrating the textures, rituals, and warm aesthetics of espresso culture. With this limited run of Metric "Foil" edition, the brand takes a detour straight into 80's vibes and retro-futurism. This release trades the warm espresso tones for an explosive, iridescent dial that shifts dramatically from deep violet purple to brilliant cyan blue depending on how it catches the light. It injects a bold, 1980's character and color into the watch while still maintaining Brew's immaculate geometry which enthusiasts have come to love.
Limited to a production of just 150 individually numbered pieces, the Metric "Foil" is housed in an incredibly wearable, angular 36mm x 41.5mm stainless steel case. Beneath the vivid, textured dial is a Seiko hybrid VK68 Meca-Quartz movement. This reliable and best of both worlds movement is a great grab and go timekeeper with a satisfying crisp tactile snapback feeling and smooth sweeping seconds of the mechanical chronograph when engaged. THOUGHTS
The Metric "Foil" is a beautifully unique take on Brews design and is a piece of art on the wrist. It still keeps Brew's Metric retro chronograph cues, while offering a pop of color and uniqueness. The watch feels like two watches in one as the light hits it turning the dial from violet to a cyan blue. The Metric is such a fun and wearable chronograph that you don't need to worry with it's robust and reliable Seiko Meca-Quartz movement. We also like that Brew changed the hour indices on this one to horizontal instead of their typical vertical layout which brings something fresh and different to the table. This being limited to 150 and individually numbered, it won't last long in the shop so if you have been eyeing a Brew for some time and want something different that not everyone will have, this is it.
