THE WATCH

Introducing the Kurono Tokyo Special Projects Reserve De Marche "Sensu NOS". A rare and elegant 38mm recent release from Japan's Kurono Tokyo that showcases their craftsmanship and Hajime Asaoka's creative vision. Kurono Tokyo states this is a limited production release in the low hundreds and will not be repeated. With a refined power reserve complication at nine oclock and a beautifully detailed guilloche dial, the "Sensu NOS" features an in-house modified and discontinued NOS movement of Citizen's  scarce calibers.  The use of such a caliber is entirely new to Kurono Tokyo.  This piece sold out within minutes, with it's standout blue dial configuration with the Kanji hour markers quickly becoming a collector's favorite.

The blue dial offers a special tribute to Japanese heritage with the Kanji hour markers, rendered in Hajime Asaoka's signature style.  The dial's power reserve indicator takes inspiration from the traditional folding fan, a motif that flows into Clous de Paris patterns on the main and 24 hour subdials.  There is beautiful circular guilloche graining around the seconds track and Kurono Tokyo opted for a curved dial and handset adding to it's charm.  Finishing touches include a thin guilloche railway track, inset minute markers, and polished hour studs, all encased in a high polished 316L stainless steel case atop with a unique box sapphire crystal.

The watch boasts a modern 38mm case, 46.5mm lug to lug, and a water resistance of 5 ATM. The watch is powered by the rare Cal 9134PWT, a NOS Citizen Premium Automatic Caliber, which Kurono acquired in its entirety and modified in-house. Asaoka-sensei removed the date function to create a cleaner, more art focused dial, allowing the guilloche design to shine without interruption. Due to the limited availability of these NOS movements, the "Sensu NOS" is a truly exclusive release, with the caliber 9134PWT being permanently discontinued. This comes as a Brand New Full-Set.

THOUGHTS

The "Sensu NOS" from Kurono Tokyo feels like a truly rare gem.  With it's unique dial layout, this watch brings something fresh to Kurono's lineup that you won't find elsewhere. The layered guilloche patterns, the charm of the 24-hour subdial and power reserve indicator come together beautifully, adding both elegance and character. What makes this watch even more intriguing is the NOS Premium Automatic Caliber from Citizen which is a rare movement that's been carefully regulated in-house by Kurono Tokyo.  The fact that this movement has been permanently discontinued makes this piece even more special. The blue dial variant you see here has a special way of paying homage to Japanese heritage with it's Kanji hour markers in Hajime Asaoka's signature calligraphy. These characters add a layer of depth, bringing in that unmistakable touch of Japanese culture. The Kurono Tokyo logo at three oclock instead of the traditional twelve oclock is also quite a break from tradition that makes this piece even more distinctive. Every aspect of the "Sensu NOS" speaks to the artistry and cultural pride behind Kurono Tokyo.  This unique piece won't last long in the shop, so grab it while you can!
